Jessica G. Kelly serves as editor for BBA Journal Special Edition: School-to-Prison Pipeline

Jessica G. Kelly, partner in the firm’s Litigation Department and chair of the pro bono practice, served as an editor for the Boston Bar Journal’s “Special Edition on the School-to-Prison Pipeline.” Published as an initiative of the Boston Bar Association’s (BBA) Service Innovation Project Committee, the publication makes the argument for student rights and school discipline reform in order to ultimately dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline in Massachusetts.

Jessica assists clients in a variety of industries with complex business litigation, including finance, biotech, and national retail. She also assists clients in real estate title, permitting, and environmental matters, as well as disputes arising from the purchase and sale of property. Jessica also represents lawyers and law firms in professional liability malpractice disputes and disciplinary investigations before the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers (BBO).

Committed to ensuring the less fortunate have equal access to justice, Jessica spearheads Sherin and Lodgen’s pro bono team. Among her accomplishments, she has represented pro bono clients through the Political Asylum/Immigration Representation (PAIR) Project. In 2015, Jessica received PAIR’s Pro Bono Asylum Attorney award.

The BBA launched the Service Innovation Project in January 2018 as a new effort to help indigent people in the Commonwealth access justice. The project provides a new model that engages lawyers in service and leads them to innovative solutions for addressing systemic injustices that affect many people in the community. The Service Innovation Project continues the Boston Bar’s work in supporting the direct funding of legal services organizations, and the robust engagement of the private bar in pro bono work.
