Congratulations to Kearsarge Energy LP and NEC Energy Solutions on completing one of the first solar and storage projects in Massachusetts

February 5, 2020

Congratulations to Kearsarge Energy LP and NEC Energy Solutions on the completion of the Kearsarge Amesbury Solar + Storage Project. The array was constructed at the 16-acre former Titcomb Landfill site, owned by the City of Amesbury.

Kearsarge developed, financed, and constructed the 4.5 MW solar array, which coupled with NEC’s 1.6 MW/3.8 MWh AC-coupled GSS energy storage system is expected to produce 5.2 MW of electric power per year for the next 20 years. Kearsarge will own and operate the solar and storage system and will use it to provide energy capacity services for the NE-ISO market, the first in Kearsarge’s 250-MW pipeline to incorporate energy storage. Learn more about the project from Kearsarge and NEC’s press release

Sherin and Lodgen’s Renewable Energy team, led by Bethany A. Bartlett, renewable energy chair, represented Cambridge Savings Bank in the financing of the solar + storage project as part of a portfolio construction bridge and term loan to Kearsarge Energy for the construction of three ground-mounted solar facilities in Massachusetts totaling 8.8 MW (DC) of energy. The S&L team also included Colleen V. Collins, of counsel, and Tyler N. Ballew, associate.
