Carla M. Moynihan appointed chair of the firm’s Real Estate Department
Firm partner, Carla M. Moynihan, has been appointed chair of Sherin and Lodgen’s Real Estate Department, effective November 2, 2020.
Sherin and Lodgen’s Managing Partner Douglas M. Henry said, “The firm’s Real Estate Department is highly regarded throughout New England for our strong and varied client base, deep expertise over a wide range of real estate matters and exceptionally talented attorneys. Carla’s breadth of knowledge and experience in a broad array of real estate practice areas have made her an outstanding leader and mentor in both the Real Estate Department and our firm as a whole. With her expertise and insight into the real estate market, she will help lead the firm to much additional success.”
A partner of the firm’s Real Estate Department, Carla has over 25 years of transactional experience advising clients in all aspects of their acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, permitting, construction, and/or financing projects. She represents owners, institutions, developers, retailers, individual investors, hospitals, hotels, state agencies, municipalities, and lenders with single asset and portfolio transactions for multi-family, hotel, retail, office, or industrial uses including negotiating and drafting letters of intent for a purchase or lease; term sheets for joint ventures, investments or financings; purchase and sale agreements; land disposition agreements; development agreements; building and ground/air rights leases; architectural and construction contracts; and CMBS/CRE loan documents.
Carla also represents clients throughout the permitting and public land approval process at federal, state, and local levels, including the Massachusetts Environmental Protection Act, the Massachusetts Historical Commission, the City of Boston Board of Appeal, the Boston Planning and Redevelopment Agency, and neighborhood architectural/landmark commissions.
An active member of the legal community, Carla is a frequent lecturer on commercial real estate transactional matters, a current adjunct faculty member at the Boston University School of Law teaching Contract Drafting, and a former adjunct faculty member at the New England School of Law.
