Congratulations to our client, The Urban Grape, on winning national Small Business of the Year Award
Sherin and Lodgen congratulates our client, The Urban Grape, on receiving the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Dream Big Small Business of the Year Award, which recognizes small businesses that “embody the spirit of innovation, entrepreneurship, and individual initiative.”
According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the South End wine store was one of over 1,000 businesses across the nation to apply for this year’s award, which comes with a $25,000 prize. From that list, twenty-seven small businesses were considered for eventual selection of eight Achievement Awards and the Small Business of the Year Award.
“The Urban Grape impressed with its distinction of being the only store in the world that sells wine by the body, rather than the varietal or region — a philosophy that creates a sense of welcoming and ease not often found while shopping for wine,” the Chamber’s release states.
As a Black-owned and woman-owned business, The Urban Grape is committed to showcasing Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC)-owned wines and spirits. Last year, in celebration of the shop’s tenth anniversary, The Urban Grape announced its Wine Studies Award for Students of Color to support those in the BIPOC community interested in building careers in the wine industry.
