September 3, 2019

Sherin and Lodgen is pleased to announce that partner, Joshua M. Bowman, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Chunilal Initiative, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that organizes neurosurgery mission trips in under-served, impoverished, and marginalized communities around the world.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on the Chunilal Initiative’s Board of Directors,” Josh said. “The Initiative is comprised of a diverse set of volunteer physicians, physician assistants, nurses, technicians and support staff who share a common mission to seek out and care for those in need. I look forward to supporting this mission as we seek to provide critical, life-changing care to the world’s most distressed populations.”

Josh is a partner in the firm’s Real Estate Department and Corporate Department and is the chair of the firm’s Hospitality Practice Group. He has substantial experience dealing with complicated issues related to commercial real estate ownership, development, finance, joint venture arrangements, acquisitions and sales, leasing, land use, licensing, management and franchise agreements, construction agreements, and food and beverage agreements. In his hospitality practice, Bowman has a particular concentration in representing owners and operators of restaurants and hotels. In addition to the Chunilal Initiative, Josh also supports the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute by participating in the Pan-Mass Challenge bike-a-thon, which he has completed eight times to date.

The Chunilal Initiative completed its first trip to Kenya in June 2019, where licensed healthcare professionals performed over 80 surgeries and saw over 400 patients from Kenya, Sudan, Uganda, Eritria, Somalia, Ethiopia and Tanzania. The organization plans to expand its neurosurgery mission trips to the Caribbean and India, and is also launching a homeless healthcare project in the Boston metropolitan area in fall 2019.
