Sherin and Lodgen attorneys participated in the Equal Justice Coalition’s annual Walk to the Hill for Civil Legal Aid
Douglas M. Henry, the firm’s Managing Partner and Walk to the Hill Law Firm Captain lead a team of attorneys on the Equal Justice Coalition‘s Walk to the Hill for Civil Legal Aid on January 28th, 2016. The Walk to the Hill is an annual event that brings hundreds of attorneys to the Massachusetts’s State House to talk to their legislators about the importance of increasing funding for legal aid. The event included speeches from MA Supreme Court Chief Justice Ralph D. Gants and Attorney General Maura Healey.
The Boston Bar Association reports that investing in civil legal aid is not only critically important to the families and individuals with serious legal problems (like foreclosure, domestic violence and child custody disputes) and nowhere else to turn but, it is also a wise investment. Each dollar invested in civil legal aid returns between $2 and $5 to the state and its residents through recovered federal benefits and averted emergency expenditures.
