Sherin and Lodgen participates in Virtual Talk to the Hill for Civil Legal Aid
On January 27, 2022, Sherin and Lodgen LLP joined hundreds of fellow attorneys, law students, and advocates to urge lawmakers to protect state funding for organizations that provide civil legal aid to low-income Massachusetts residents during the Equal Justice Coalition’s virtual event, “Talk to the Hill for Civil Legal Aid.” The event is a modified version of its annual “Walk to the Hill” gathering and was conducted again virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Beth A. Goldstein, partner and chair of the firm’s Renewable Energy Practice Group, served as captain for the firm’s team.
The Equal Justice Coalition advocates for expanded access to civil legal aid for low-income Massachusetts residents. The Coalition includes bar associations, law firms, law schools, legal aid organizations, and social service agencies who work together to protect and increase the state appropriation for civil legal aid (budget line item 0321-1600, Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation). This year, the Coalition’s legislative funding campaign called on state lawmakers to provide $41 million in funding for civil legal aid in the Commonwealth’s Fiscal Year 2023 budget.
