Thomas F. Maffei quoted in Law.com on representing Robert A. George in the successful appeal of the federal district court’s denial of his petition for reinstatement
Thomas F. Maffei, Senior Counsel in the firm’s Litigation Department, was quoted in a recent Law.com article published on May 1, 2023. The article, “Convicted Boston Attorney Given ‘Welcome Back’ Date by Federal Court Following Last Year’s Reinstatement Rejection,” discusses Robert A. George, a noted criminal defense attorney who was convicted in 2012 of money laundering counts.

Attorney George successfully appealed the denial to the full panel of district judges, which granted his reinstatement after a waiting period.

Both George and his attorney, Thomas F. Maffei, senior counsel at Sherin and Lodgen in Boston, told Law.com that they were pleased with the court’s decision.
“We are delighted that the appeal panel permitted attorney George’s reinstatement. The long-standing principle that every lawyer is entitled to a second chance is affirmed,” Maffei said. “We appreciate the dozens of lawyers and others who came out in support of Bob. His skill as a criminal defense lawyer is legendary.”
