Sherin and Lodgen attorneys serve as editors and contributing authors for the MCLE Manual on “Lease Drafting in Massachusetts”
Seven Sherin and Lodgen attorneys contributed to the update of the fourth edition of the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) publication “Lease Drafting in Massachusetts,” published on October 7, 2020. The manual, which is considered the bible for Massachusetts lease lawyers, is a complete guide to understanding, handling, and drafting leases with topics covering formal aspects of leases; the parties and the power to lease; rights conferred on tenants by lease; use of premises; standard terms of leases; and more. It also includes practical drafting tips and model clauses commonly used by Massachusetts practitioners today.
Edward M. Bloom, partner in the firm’s Real Estate Department, served as co-editor and author. Partners Gary D. Buchman, Robert M. Carney, Matthew S. Cote, Peter Friedenberg, Beth A. Goldstein, and Jennifer L. Ioli served as authors. Cote, Goldstein, and Ioli co-wrote the new chapter, “Novel Commercial Leasing Arrangements in the Current Economy,” dedicated to new leasing configurations evolving from trending business environments, including solar energy facility leasing; food hall licensing; and agreements for coworking spaces.
